Introduction

Welcome!

As a twenty-three year old man, I have had the luxury of growing up with the development of technology at my fingertips. While the Internet has served as a beneficial part of my education, it has become apparent that some traditional methods of teaching lack the ability to make this technology available to the students. In order to make a classroom interactive, online tools such as you tube, and Google can serve as effective way of teaching students, with the use of examples. Unfortunately with any great tool, there are consequences when it is not used responsibly. This is seen across the board as students use the internet inappropriately during class to shop, chat online, or change their Facebook status. In order to maintain the focus of students, teachers should consider making topics relevant to current events, which can be taught through documentaries, or online videos that relate to a topic in class. Therefore transforming the limitless amount information on the Internet into a tool which students can learn to use properly, which can benefit their current and future lives. By informing students of current global, and social events, they can be better prepared to make decisions in life, and better understand how to implement their education in a society, where information travels across the globe in a matter of seconds.

  1. Hey Julian,

I totally agree with you! As the years have rolled on by, technology has definitely become a big part of society. We even go to coffee shops just to use this technology these days! Having this technology in the classroom seems to be the only way students, and even teachers can survive in the classroom these days. I find it very funny because just 9 years ago, It was required to write on line paper because people had no idea that you could type and print on computers, and NOW a teacher wont even accept work if its on line paper!

  2. Hi Julian, I also completely agree with you. Using technology as a teaching tool is kind of a double edged sword, it has its; pros and cons. Unfortunately I think that the temptation the internet provides is too great for students to fully focus on a lesson plan via the internet, becuase they would want to wonder around online. However, there is also jut an endless amount of information online and can provide a realistic view onthingstostudents. I personally prefer the old school lecture and take notes in class, but as new generations emerge, it's obvious that technology will eventually become the main means through which teaching is done. So hopefully teachersare able to accomodate technology into the academic world.
